16 April 2013

The Whole of Strategy Evaluation of the Petrol Sniffing Strategy: Future Directions for the PSS Final Report was publicly released today.

The evaluation assesses the effectiveness, sustainability, impact and continuing relevance of the Petrol Sniffing Strategy as a way of coordinating government effort on petrol sniffing.

The evaluation findings will be used to inform future work and priorities under the Petrol Sniffing Strategy.

Introduced in 2005, the Petrol Sniffing Strategy is a whole of government initiative that aims to reduce the incidence and impact of petrol sniffing and other forms of substance misuse amongst Indigenous youth and communities in targeted areas.

Within the Australian Government, responsibility for the Petrol Sniffing Strategy is shared across the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, Department of Health and Ageing, Attorney-General’s Department and Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.
