Aim of publication
The Council of Australian Governments endorsed the National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children 2009-2020 (the National Framework). The National Framework operates through a series of three-year action plans. The First Three-Year Action Plan (2009-2012) outlines how all governments, the non-government sector, through the Coalition of Organisations Committed to the Safety and Wellbeing of Australia’s Children (the Coalition) and the broader community will progress actions during the first three years of the implementation of the National Framework to ensure that Australia’s children are safe and well. The First Action Plan also sets out the roles and responsibilities of the Commonwealth, State and Territory governments and the non-government sector and identifies how the progress of these actions will be measured.
Who is it for?
Under the National Framework, protecting children is everyone’s business. The First Three-Year Action Plan is for Commonwealth, State and Territory governments, non-government organisations, service providers and individuals with an interest in ensuring Australia’s children are safe and well.
What does it cover?
The First Action Plan outlines how the National Framework will be implemented and identifies priority actions that will be undertaken during the first three years of the National Framework. It also identifies the partnership arrangements that will underpin the implementation of the National Framework and outlines the reporting requirements for the first three years of the National Framework.
