Short Description: Grant funding to support volunteers and encourage volunteering
What is Volunteer Grants 2013?
The Minister for Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, the Hon Jenny Macklin MP, and the Minister for Community Services, the Hon Julie Collins MP, announced that more than 170,000 volunteers over 4,600 organisations throughout Australia will benefit from funding of $16 million under Volunteer Grants 2013.
Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 each will enable organisations to purchase small equipment items to assist volunteers and contribute towards reimbursement of fuel costs, transport costs incurred by volunteers with disability who are unable to drive, training courses and background screening checks for volunteers.
Volunteers give their time and energy to help others, often reaching out to the most vulnerable members of our society. The Australian Government is committed to supporting volunteers in their important work.
