Aged Care Education and Training Incentive (ACETI) Programme
Important: Applicants must have commenced an eligible course on or before 31 March 2016 to be accepted to the Aged Care Education and Training Incentive (ACETI) programme. Students will receive completion payments so long as they meet current requirements and complete their studies by 30 June 2020.
In the Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook, the Government is merging the Aged Care Workforce Development Fund, the Rural Health Outreach Fund into the Health Workforce Fund to create a single streamlined Fund. Merging these funds will ensure an integrated approach to workforce funding that will better meet the health needs of the nation’s ageing population.
As part of the integration, access to the ACETI will cease for new students from 1 April 2016. For those students currently in receipt of the payments, payment incentives will continue to be paid until the student has completed their studies or the ceasing of the Programme on 30 June 2020, whichever comes first.
The Revised ACETI Guidelines will be available early 2016. For all other Payment related questions contact the Department of Human Services Medicare Program Aged Care Enquiries Line on 1800 195 206 (option 1 or 2).
In the 2010-11 Budget the Australian Government provided $59.9 million over four years for a national incentive programme to provide payments to eligible aged care workers who undertake further studies to enhance their career as a personal care worker, an enrolled nurse or a registered nurse.
In the 2015-16 Budget, the ACETI Programme was extended for nine months until 31 March 2016.
The ACETI Programme provides incentive payments to eligible aged care workers who undertake specified education and training programmes to upgrade qualifications and build their career in aged care.
The Department of Human Services delivers the ACETI Programme through funding from the Department of Health.
