Key ElementsThe Australian Government has committed $2.6 million to extend the existing Australian Public Service Indigenous employment strategy for one year.
BackgroundThe employment strategy includes a series of targeted initiatives to increase the level of employment of Indigenous Australians in the Australian Public Service and provide career development opportunities for existing Indigenous employees.
Under the employment strategy the APSC will provide a range of services to APS agencies, including:
- centralised recruitment arrangements to support the intake of Indigenous graduates, cadets and trainees;
- organisational and financial support for regional networks of Indigenous employees;
- targeted career development training for Indigenous Australians; and
- arrangements that allow employees under the strategy to move between Australian Government agencies.
