Volunteer Management Program (Voluntary Work Initiative) - continuation of funding 

Key elements

The Australian Government has committed $16.7 million dollars over the next four years to continue support for volunteers and the not-for-profit sector under the Volunteer Management Program.

This funding will provide a skilled, well trained and resourced volunteer workforce and enhance the capacity of the not-for-profit sector to deliver high quality volunteer management and training.


Background

Volunteers and the not-for-profit sector have been assisted through the Volunteer Management Program since 1992.

Each year this program assists more than 18,000 people to find volunteering opportunities and over 20,000 volunteers and volunteer managers are provided with training to help them deliver essential service more effectively.

Implementation

The measure will be implemented from 1 July 2008.

Total Government Funding

$16.7 million over four years.
