Commonwealth Seniors Health Card - Great Southern Rail Service Concession

Holders of the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC) are able to travel on the new Great Southern Rail service from Alice Springs to Darwin at concessional rates.

Background


As part of the Acknowledging Older Australians package in the 2001–02 Budget, the Australian Government announced that it would extend a range of concessions to holders of the CSHC. This included travel on Great Southern Rail services. As the route covered by Great Southern Rail has now been extended with the new rail line from Alice Springs to Darwin, the availability of the concession has also been extended.
