Centrelink - Implementation of Funding Model

What's New?

The Government is implementing a revised funding model for Centrelink. The new model does not change Centrelink's resourcing but does provide more detailed information on the cost of Centrelink's service delivery, and detailed information about the cost of service delivery for each customer group.

The revised model will be introduced for services delivered on behalf of the former Department of Family and Community Services (the former FaCS), Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) and the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST).

Background

Centrelink's funding models are currently different for the former FaCS, DEWR and DEST.

The new model provides significant strategic value by providing transparent data on expenditure to a high level of detail. This will enable better analysis of current Centrelink activity and the cost of delivering services. This is a significant improvement on the current models, where costs and allocation of resources is less clear.
