Two elements of the 2000–01 Budget measure, Compliance Strategy – Measures to Improve Control of Incorrect Payment and Fraud – Detection, have been extended for a further four years.
The two elements that will be continued are:
- Increased Rent Assistance data-matching reviews to detect Centrelink rent-assistance recipients who have incorrectly declared their rent liability and/or living arrangements.
- Data-matching between Centrelink and Department of Employment and Workplace Relations Job Placement Records to detect customers who obtain income through placement in part-time and casual positions by Job Network members.
These measures are part of the Government's overall strategy of ensuring that people receive the correct rate of payment and that Australian income support payments are appropriately targeted to those in greatest need.
